Initial Alignment....in progress.
The truck has been started and moved. It has seen the light of day once more. Tuxtruck would like the stuff acumulating in the bed, out.
I pulled the truck out of the garage to re-position projects for what currently needs to be done. The initial alignment was started last night, setting camber/caster/toe.
If someone needs an alignment for a lifted IFS truck, bring it by, and for a fee, I'll get it done. All charges hourly, no flat rates, since everyone is different, and the guys at the shops that do alignments with computer-controlled equipment will whine and cry about your oversized tires. That is what led me to learn how to do it myself. When I was charged $100 for them to tell me that they couldnt do the alignment, and the truck came back with the frontend dropped 2-3inches via the torsion bars.
I have a rebco alignment tool that I purchased from 'Ultimate Racing Products', a stock-car parts/service shop. The stock car guys know how to get stuff done. This tool has allowed me to do alignments at home with a little bit of time and work. Which saved me a lot of frustration and time wasted with people that dont actually know what they are doing, just what the machine tells them.
I've ranted about people that have a very narrow view, and cannot think beyond this narrow view to get things done. It's happened with the alignment, and with the tires. You would think that a place called 'Ultimate Truck' could deal with a 38inch tire, but they didnt even want to try. So if you are doing anything with tires, go to Marion Tire, 5028 NW Radial Hwy, Omaha, NE 68104-4364, (402) 553-9393. They are people that know how to get things done, from my four-inch wide pizza cutters on the vette, to the 38inch tires no-one else could get off of the wheels.
I love technology, but sometimes, it just allows the people with the least intelligence to do work they shouldnt be doing. Experience is what gets things done, not a machine and the cheapest-guy-per-hour.
Anyway, the initial alignment will be done tonight. The texturing is back on the dash, and will be topcoated tonight, and assembled/installed saturday. I also bent some conduit to the shape I need for the upper shock mounts, so that I can have the tubing bent sometime soon.
