Console wrapped, PC install beginning...
I have finished and wrapped the main portion of the console with black vinyl.
Here's a few pictures of beginning assembly. more »
Console fabrication is mostly complete......
I've made all of the closing pieces to cap off the various areas of the console.
So if I can look at it tonight, and not come up with something else that I should do to it, then I will wrap it with vinyl, and get to installing the electronics into th… more »
Back to the console......
I am on to the work of setting up/finishing the console.
I have made the pieces to cover the top of the console. The bezel around the LCD is cut from aluminum, and fits up tight to the dash. At the lower right hand side, I have mounted the Phidgets L… more »
Almost done with the dash....Screen is in, and working.
Well, the dash modification could have gone smoother, and now that I know how to get it done, it is pretty much done. There is one spot that needs a touch up, where it looks like a corner flexed, but it is in and working.
It didnt just go together a… more »
When you are almost done, you will be kicked......
The majority of the sanding is done. Then a crack appears at the bottom of the screen area. In your head you think, it's just been sanded down too far, a little filler, smoothing, and I'll be done. If life was only that easy.
What the reality turns… more »
Sanding, filling, sanding............
That's what I've been doing. The dash is starting to come together and look like one piece again. Only with a large square hole where the heater controls and stereo used to be located. I think I'm on my final round of filler, and should be priming and f… more »
Epoxy sanded, getting ready for filler on the dash.
I stopped by the shop for a while to get a bit of the sanding out of the way. The epoxy on the dash has been knocked down to the level of the dash and bezel around it, and is ready for the first round of filling. There should be only a few steps needed… more »
Initial mockup of dash LCD.
Here's a couple of pics of the dash thrown back in after the epoxy has set for 12 hours. I am going to be leaving it alone for the 12-24 hours to fully cure before sanding and beginning the smoothing. more »
Progress, last of the audio soldering, the beginning of the dash hacking.
The job-box for the audio connections has been completed and tested. It's screwed to the floor, and I put the knobs for the bass control to each amp in the top. RCA jacks for the audio connections are in the side.
I took the main part of the dash out… more »
Amps wired up, and all channels tested.
The box is in the truck, hopefully for the last time. I have powered it up, and tested each channel through the amps. It is not permanently installed yet, since I may need to move it out at some point. All that is left to do, is to put the screws throug… more »
Wiring and more wiring.......
The six crossovers have been screwed down, wired, and tested. Almost all of the cables have been made for the connections. Just the rear surround speakers need spade connectors put on the ends of the wires, then the box can be connected, and put in plac… more »
Speaker box done, amp mounts done, ready to install....
The speaker box is done. I have the 5.25 MTX 5001 Separates installed in the speaker box. Additional material was added around them to separate the airspace from the 5001's and the subwoofers. I have opened up and started mounting the crossovers to the… more »
